Am I allowed to commit PI-icide?

I'm in a mood to vent this morning because my PI (my boss) decided yesterday that after FOUR drafts of my thesis proposal, that I should COMPLETELY switch my focus.  So here I am, 14 days before my orals, with my proposal due in 7 days, and I'm rewriting it.  Not exactly where I wanted to be at this point!! 

Why couldn't we have done this a month ago when I gave him draft number 1?  PI-icide might just happen today...
